Ubuntu is a South African word that means “I am only a person through other people”, emphasizing our connectedness and need for community as humans. In the blur and business of life, we often inadvertently abandon our old relationships or avoid nurturing new ones. As student leaders we are more than rule-enforcers but rather community-builders who should facilitate relationships, belonging and thriving amongst students in our institutes. Being an RA of three, almost four years, I would like to share my experiences, ideas and tips to effectively and genuinely build community and establish an inclusive residence.
